Mrs Olivia Maponya
Olivia Maponya is the Shareholder and Executive Director for Kopano Bus Service and Madodi Bus Company based in Limpopo Province. She is currently serving as the Accounting Authority (Board Member) at Transport Education Training Authority for 2020 2025 term, Chairperson of the Road Passenger Chamber committee, Treasurer General of South African National Bus Operators Council (SANSBOC), Provincial Secretary of SANSBOC Limpopo, she is also the Diocesan Treasurer General and member of the FPC at ELCSA.
For 6 years, Maponya served as an HR Consultant at Gateway Airport Authority Limited as well as an Administration Officer at the Limpopo Department of Transport and Community safety.
She also had a short stint as a Maths Teacher at Lekota Senior Secondary School before venturing into the transport sector where she became part of Kopano Bus Service since its
formation in 2001.
In 2016, she was appointed as the Executive Director for Kopano Bus Service, a position which required her to lead the company management team. Together with her management team she developed an effective turnaround strategies that paved a new path and positive trajectory for the company within a short period.
The following year in 2020 she received an award, IEDP TOP Action Learning Project by Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS)
Under Maponya’s leadership, Kopano Bus Service has over the years being receiving awards and recognitions since 2005 consecutively to date, with the most recent awards from
Furthermore, Kopano Bus Service received The Standard Bank “TOP WOMEN” award in
August 2022, an international recognition for excellence “THE WINNER” awarded by
International Business Institute (IBI) in August 2022 in Paris, France.
And the following Awards are lined up to be received as follows:
1) Top of Business Award by IBI in Dubai, UAE on the 28 November 20222) Nominated for the European Quality Award coupled with Queen Platinum Jubilee scheduled for the 20 December 2022 by Oxford Award Agency Limited in United Kingdom.

Kopano Bus Service is engaged in opening more spaces for women in its operational and technical departments. “The only space we are proud of enough women is the administration, finance and HR. But this is no really much, because they are not even making 25% of the entire staff establishment of 179 employees,” she says.

In honour of the multi award winning Kopano Bus Service and the closure of Women’s Month (August) activities, Limpopo Transport and Community Safety Department hosted a celebratory event at Jack Botes Hall in Polokwane recently (1 September 2022).
