Kopano Bus service hosted its annual year end function on the 6 December 2017 at its Lebowakgomo depot. Annually, the company board and management invite all its stakeholders both internally and externally to celebrate the activities of the year under one roof.
Some of the important external stakeholders who attended included representatives from the Limpopo department of transport, lepelle Nkumpi Local municipality, Passenger Furum, Chief Representatives from Local chiefs.
Explaining the purpose of the day, Cornelius Chiloane who is also the Contract Manager for Kopano Bus service said the company decided to set aside a day such as this into update all concerned parties about the activities of the year.
He said they were thankful as a company not to have lost even a single passenger during the course of the year.
Olivia Maponya, the company executive director noted 3 consecutive minor accidents which happened within a short period and advised drivers to be extra careful in order to avoid accidents in future.
She also delivered the message from the company chairman, Herman Mangwale who could not attend the event this year. The chairman’s appeal to all the drivers is” always take care of your health and always ‘condomise’ if necessary to prevent sexually transmitted diseases”
Maponya further extended her appreciation to all staff members for the good work that they do for the company.
“We are making progress in Lebowakgomo, the land has already been allocated for the Bus rank in Zone F” Maponya said.
About the annual prizes for drivers which they receive when they have met their set targets, She said that management is working on a new performance contracts which will guide how prizes will be awarded at the end of the year functions in future.
Ms Komape from the Limpopo department of transport said her department is implementing a new technological system which reports the bus activities directly to the department.
The passenger representative’s forum deputy chairperson Ms Magogodi said she was happy to see that Kopano Bus service has good communications between its management, drivers and passengers.
Limpopo The Musical presented a short stage drama “Never too late” to raise awareness about issues of health and safety on buses. Kopano Madodi Male choir also gave some musical rendition to entertain guests.
